London Heathrow Airport

The worlds busiest Airport in volume of international passengers.

Aviation at the location of what is now Heathrow Airport began during World War I, when the site was used as a military airfield. By the 1930s the airfield, then known as the Great Western Aerodrome, was privately owned by Fairey Aviation Company, and was used for aircraft assembly and testing. Commercial traffic used Croydon Airport, which was London's main airport at the time.In 1943, Heathrow came under the control of the Air Ministry, to be developed as a Royal Air Force transfer station. Construction of runways began in 1944, on land that was originally acquired from the vicar of Harmondsworth. The new airport was built by Wimpey Construction, and was named after the hamlet of Heathrow, little more than a row of isolated cottages on Hounslow Heath frequented by highwaymen; which was demolished to make way for the airport, and which was located approximately where Terminal 3 now stands.

London Biggin Hill Airport

Battersea Heliport

The London Heliport at Battersea has been in operation since 1959, London Heliport is the capital's main and busiest heliport. The facility is located on the south bank of the River Thames. The heliport provides landing, parking and refuelling services between 08:00 and 21:00 (flights are permitted between 07:00 and 23:00), albeit parking is normally restricted to smaller helicopter categories.
In February 2007 the heliport site was acquired by Von Essen Hotels with its subsidiary company PremiAir to operate the heliport. The acquisition deal also includes an exclusive new luxury hotel development under construction adjacent to the heliport site that will also house the heliport’s new terminal, executive lounge and business meeting room areas.

Dunsfold Aerodrome:
A Boeing 747-200 which served with British Airways until 2002 as City of Birmingham, G-BDXJ, was purchased by Aces High Limited, a company specialising in supplying aircraft for television and film work, and transferred to Dunsfold. It was modified and used for filming for the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. Some of the scenes set at Miami International Airport were filmed at Dunsfold. Dunsfold is also home the popular Top Gear Show.

Dunsfold is now a private aerodrome and is available by appointment only.
Dunsfold Aerodrome is not a designated Customs Aerodrome. Customs, Immigration and Special Branch clearance must be arranged not less than 24 hours in advance for flights to and from destinations outside the UK mainland.
The UK General Aviation Report must be completed and sent by fax to each of the authorities listed below at least 24 hours in advance. In addition, a copy must also be faxed directly to Dunsfold.
Hangarage and apron parking are available on the Aerodrome.
